Prepregs
Reinforcement fabrics pre-impregnated with precisely controlled resin systems — delivering consistent resin content, reliable layup and predictable cured properties for advanced composite manufacturing.
What Are Prepregs?
Prepregs are reinforcement fabrics that have been pre-impregnated with a precisely metered resin matrix. The resin is partially cured (B-staged) so that the material remains flexible and easy to handle, then fully cures during the final lamination process under heat and pressure.
Because the resin content, fiber areal weight and tack are controlled during manufacture, prepregs give fabricators consistent fiber-to-resin ratios, predictable mechanical properties and cleaner layup compared with wet layup methods.
Mahaveer Composites supplies prepregs based on carbon, glass and aramid reinforcement fabrics with resin systems suited to common composite processes. They are used in aerospace, automotive, UAV, sporting goods and industrial composite structures where repeatability and performance matter.

Exact resin content, areal weight, width and cure profile depend on the selected reinforcement and resin combination. Please share your layup and processing requirements and our team will confirm a suitable specification.
Prepreg Types We Supply
Reinforcement and resin combinations for different composite applications.
Carbon Fiber Prepregs
High stiffness and low weight for aerospace, motorsport, UAV and performance structures.
Glass Fiber Prepregs
Cost-effective reinforcement with good mechanical properties for general composite parts.
Aramid Fiber Prepregs
High toughness and impact resistance for ballistic, protective and energy-absorbing structures.
Unidirectional Prepregs
Aligned fiber reinforcement for maximum strength and stiffness along the load direction.
Woven Prepregs
Balanced properties in two directions with good drape for curved and complex shapes.
Multiaxial Prepregs
Layered fiber orientations for tailored stiffness and strength in structural laminates.
Key Performance Characteristics
Why prepregs are used in advanced composite manufacturing.
Consistent Resin Content
Pre-metered resin gives repeatable fiber-to-resin ratios and predictable cured laminate properties.
Cleaner Layup
No wet resin mixing during layup, reducing mess, waste and exposure compared with wet layup.
Uniform Fiber Alignment
Reinforcement fibers stay in their designed orientation, supporting predictable mechanical performance.
Good Drape and Tack
Prepregs remain flexible and tacky enough to conform to curved molds and complex geometries.
Reduced Void Content
Controlled resin flow during cure helps produce laminates with lower void content and better surface finish.
Process Repeatability
Consistent material inputs support repeatable production runs and easier quality control.
Typical Prepreg Workflow
From material selection to cured laminate — a simple view of how prepregs are used.
Material Selection
Choose reinforcement type, fabric architecture, areal weight and resin system for the application.
Cutting & Layup
Cut prepreg plies to shape and lay them into the mold in the designed fiber orientation.
Vacuum Bagging
Apply release film, bleeder, breather and vacuum bag to consolidate the layup before cure.
Cure & Demold
Apply the resin system's cure temperature and pressure profile, then demold the finished laminate.
Typical Applications
Prepregs are used where repeatability, weight and mechanical performance matter.
Aerospace interior components, fairings and secondary structures
Automotive and motorsport body panels and structural parts
UAV airframes, wings and lightweight structural components
Marine hulls, decks and high-performance boat structures
Sports equipment such as bicycle frames, rackets and paddles
Industrial composite parts requiring consistent mechanical properties
Protective and impact-resistant structures using aramid prepregs
Prototyping and low-volume production of advanced composite parts
Quality and Storage Guidance
Prepreg performance depends on consistent resin content, correct storage and proper cure. We work with customers to confirm the material specification and to provide practical handling guidance so the prepreg performs as expected during layup and cure.
- ✓ Confirmation of reinforcement, resin system and areal weight before supply
- ✓ Guidance on cold storage, thawing and handling to maintain tack and shelf life
- ✓ Support on cure temperature and pressure profiles for the selected resin
- ✓ Consistent supply for repeat production runs and project schedules
